"Sleepy Hollow" 9/30/2013 (spoilers): Dreams Along the Mohawk

The other six Endless cannot save you now!The third episode of Fox's runaway Monday night sensation, Sleepy Hollow, contains no Horseman, no witches, no Katrina or her Phantom Zone, no Clancy Brown flashbacks, and very little mysterious demon except in flashback. Thankfully it's not exactly sixty minutes of dead air. "For the Triumph of Evil" is the first time Our Heroes must face a mythical creature who's not overtly taking orders from the Big Bad. And yet this otherworldly stalker nicknamed "the Sandman" holds connections to both Ichabod and Abbie, while appearing visually indebted to Pan's Labyrinth and half the characters Doug Jones has ever played.

For those who missed out, my attempt to streamline the basic events follows after this COURTESY SPOILER ALERT for the sake of time-shifted viewers.

10 Reasons to Watch the 10th Doctor

10 -ROMANCE - Long term Doctor Who fans never dreamed of a romance between the Doctor and his companion (well, realistically anyhow) but Rose fell for the Doctor. This was probably an after thought that grew off of the great chemistry between Piper and Tennant and also fan feedback reading into the idea that their relationship was more than just two friends enjoying the time of their life. This chemistry lead to a very powerful farewell scene between the Doctor and Rose and if you can forget what would happen later on, was one of the best moments in the current series. This is one of those examples of fans thinking there is a relationship going on when there really isn't but the producers decide to make it happen.

9 - CHRISTMAS - DOCTOR WHO became part of Christmas starting in 2005. Every year it is expected that DOCTOR WHO would cap off fan's Christmas day with an episode that would often have some kind of connection with Christmas or at least snow.

Sleepy Hollow Recap: Enter Sandman

Abbie and Ichabod take on Ye Olde Freddie Kruger in this week's , and it's derivative and pretty ridiculous, yet somehow incredibly watchable. Forget the horsemen and the horned mirror demon and all of the Revelation nonsense: The real voodoo in this series is how it manages to be so silly yet so fun, week to week. Let's review what went down in "For the Triumph of Evil."PERCHANCE TO DIE | The Monster of the Week is one Grimm took on just last season: the Sandman, who uses people's dreams to their extreme disadvantage. We're introduced to the baddie - here depicted as a pale, bald man with no mouth and black sockets for eyes - as he torments everyone involved in keeping Jenny, Abbie's sister, in mental institutions for a decade. First, her shrink jumps off a ledge - when Ichabod demands to see the victim's eyes (because apparently that's a thing he can do now?), he, Abbie and Irving are skeeved to see the glazed-over orbits pop and sand spill out. It's pretty nasty.

The next target is the local rancher who found Abbie and Jenny in the woods, but first, a little more of the girls' story. Abbie confesses to Ichabod that she and her sister had been drinking beers when they saw the demon; though it felt like they'd only been unconscious for minutes, they were really gone for four days. And even though both Abbie and the rancher saw the horned demon, neither would back up Jenny's story for fear of looking crazy. Abbie had another concern: She and her sibling had just landed in a decent foster home, and Abs was worried that they'd be sent somewhere else if their crazy story got out.

Sharp's Aquos Phone Xx is almost all screen, gives 80.5 percent good face

"Too much bezel" -- how often have you seen that complaint in the comment section of new phone announces? Well, you can throw this Sharp Aquos Phone Xx (and its mini companion) in the face of that haterade brigade because 80.5 percent of its 5.2-inch front is all screen. At 70 x 132 x 9.9mm, the Xx is more compact than Sony's rival 5-inch phablet, the Xperia Z1, but its collection of top shelf specs gives it a fatter profile. The Android device, which joins Softbank's 4G LTE lineup this December, crams a 1080p display, 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 running Jelly Bean 4.2, 2,600mAh battery and a 16.3-megapixel rear camera (with an f/1.9 lens) into that squat, water-resistant frame. It also features pre-loaded translation software to make sense out of captured English text -- handy if you're, you know, Japanese. We realize this is an unfair mobile tease for those of you green-eyed monsters living in the Western world; you'll likely never see the Xx make that transcontinental trek. But it's always nice to dream.

Dear Walter White,

The long-awaited return of the Weekly Roundup.I know, some of you were wondering if it would ever come back.Counting down the days, hours, minutes, the usual.Well have no fear.I was thoroughly intimidated when I realized just how many new episodes hit the airwaves this week but I'm determined to keep up a better weekly cadence this time around. To help with that goal, I've decided to focus on dramas.Comedies like New Girl and How I Met Your Mother will routinely make it on here but shows like Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory will be phased out for now.
