Now this movie I like. It's a bit of a risk, because it is pretty low-budget '50s sci-fi, but it entertained me for it entire running-time, so I call it a success.
The story opens with a family picnic, and the kids meet some scientists working in a cave, looking at a cave painting. Later, the boy sneaks of during his nap and goes back to the cave. He falls asleep there, and the rest of the movie is his dream, where the figure in the cave painting is actually an alien who has destroyed nearly all of humanity, except for the boy, his two sisters, his mother and his scientist father, and also the fathers assistant. But maybe he's dead now. So it's a story of their struggle for survival against the alien, and the alien's strange attraction to the older sister, who also happens to be a scientist as well. It's full of kooky stuff, and some kind of alien technology that creates bubbles when its used. Worth checking out if you have the chance. I'd definitely like to see it again, or even buy it, if I can find it at the right price.
