James McAvoy To Play Dr. Frankenstein Alongside Daniel Radcliffe

I feel like I've been talking about James McAvoy quite a bit lately.Between his upcoming return as Professor X in Bryan Singer's X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY double feature opposite Jessica Chastain, the actor has kept himself quite busy.Today comes news that the actor has joined yet another high profile project.

McAvoy will star in director Paul McGuigan's upcoming take on the classic Mary Shelley story FRANKENSTEIN as - you guessed it - Dr. Frankenstein. He joins the already-cast Daniel Radcliffe as Frankenstein's assistant Igor.It ends a long and exhaustive search by Twentieth Century Fox to find an actor to play this character, and with McAvoy's string of successes, they must have decided to go with what works.

FRANKENSTEIN is making a comeback these days.Writer/Director Stuart Beattie will soon resurrect Frankenstein's monster in I, FRANKENSTEIN starring Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy. That film doesn't follow the Shelley story too closely, with it being more of an action film.Regardless, it's nice to see a creature that's not an angsty teenage vampire or zombie.

The best part of this casting news is that I can legitimately say Professor X will create a monster with Harry Potter, and that's pretty awesome because I'm a total idiot.Regardless, what do you guys think about this? Will you flock to the theaters to see the classic movie monster once more?Let us know in the comments below.
