Top 5 Puzzle games on Android

I'm not huge into gaming on my mobile device, but the few games I do have ( and consistently come back to) are of the puzzle genre. Great for killing time during your commute or when you're waiting around for someone, I like the fact that you can get into them, leave them alone for a bit, and then jump right back to where you were. Plus, a little competition for your mind is always welcome.

WORLD OF GOO

If you've ever wanted to create large structures by using balls of goo then this game is right up your alley. The main objective of the game is to get a certain number of goo balls to an "exit". However, this isn't always straight forward as sometimes there are gaps, obstacles, and other things the player must get around and past to reach their goal. By using different types of goo balls with unique properties, the user can exploit them to their hearts content to help finish the level.Probably one of my favorite games for Android, the replay ability for this game is great and it has a really fun mode called "World of Goo Corporation" where the goal is build the highest tower of goo without it falling over. Seems simple, but it's deceptively tough and addicting.

CAN YOU ESCAPE

You're in a room. You need to get out of the room. But how to do you go about doing so? In Can You Escape you need to solve puzzles and find hidden objects in order to advance to the next room/floor. At the time of writing, there are 10 rooms to complete and is a great brain teaser. If you don't complete the entire game in one sitting (hey, some of those rooms are hard!), it keeps you coming back. Just don't get too frustrated or take the easy way out and Google the answers.

Best of all? Can You Escape is free.

THE ROOM

An intense puzzle game, The Room brings some stunning 3D graphics and visualizations to the table. Along with great sounds and ambient noises, you try to open up boxes by solving puzzles. While it doesn't sound too exciting, each box has several different secrets and clues, from dials to turn to safe combinations to figure out. Combined with a unique story line that progresses as you open more boxes, this is definitely in the top of my mind when it comes to Android puzzle games. While the viewing controls may take a little time to get used to, I found myself pretty fluid with them after having played for about 15 minutes.

CUT THE ROPE: TIME TRAVEL

If you haven't tried out the original Cut The Rope, you're really missing out. A great game to pick up, do a few levels, and then put back down, Cut the Rope: Time Travel follows in its popular predecessors shoes with ease. In this iteration of the series, you jump back in time to play around in different time periods, including ancient Egypt and the Renaissance. All you gotta do? Feed the monsters! The tricky part is getting the candy into their mouths.

Definitely give this one a try.

LAZY RAIDERS

Ever want to raid a tomb? Too lazy to go find one yourself? Have no fear, Lazy Raiders is here for you. Using your accelerometer as your controls, you tilt and swirl your device around to move your character through the mazes. Well, not so much your character. He's lazy and just stands around. What you really control is the maze itself, so you move your surroundings around your character. Keep an eye out for traps though while you collect gold, relics, and other goodies.
