Despicable Me 2

Sort of like the first one, Despicable Me 2 attempts to fit into the family film market by appealing to both young children and parents but ignoring people between the ages of fifteen and thirty who just want to see something good and funny. Although the first one turned out to be fairly enjoyable, the second one is little better than a diversion.

The nefarious supervillain of the previous film, Gru, is now father to three little girls, but while his life seems normal, he is recruited by the Anti-Villain League to stop a supervillain from creating an army of monsters with a stolen chemical formula.

Let's just say the movie is 100 percent predictable and has one or two funny moments, but its chief purpose is to let your kid laugh at those crazy minions while you eat junk food. There's nothing wrong with the voice acting or the animation, but the story is doubtful to amuse anyone old enough to understand it. It's about what you'd expect from the studio that followed up the success of the first Despicable Me with critical flops like Hop and The Lorax.

FINAL VERDICT: OK (2 STARS)
