The fifth season of The Vampire Diaries so far has been a roller-coaster of emotions. Elena and Caroline are now official college students who have a campus murder and creepy professor on their hands. While Damon and Jeremy have become roomies and bodyguards for a human Katherine, protecting her from Silas. Yes, he is still out roaming around, but this time his crazy ex-girlfriend along who well, did save Stefan, but also swiped his memory. Matt returned from his summer adventures, but unknowingly brought a few mysterious friends along.And in last week's heart-wrenching episode, Bonnie's death had finally been revealed to everyone. COSTUME PARTY OF THE DAMNED -- On campus, Elena (Nina Dobrev) is touched by a sad and secretive student named Aaron (guest star Shaun Sipos).Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) attend the Whitmore Historical Ball dressed as Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII.At the Ball, Elena shares a dance with Dr. Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett), who has a disturbing message for her.Caroline's (Candice Accola) evening at the Ball takes her from happiness to heartbreak.Meanwhile, Nadia (guest star Olga Fonda) reveals her surprising history to Katherine (Nina Dobrev), and Damon tries to make a deal with Silas (Paul Wesley).Silas' demand that Damon commit an unthinkable act leads to a violent confrontation.Kat Graham and Zach Roerig also star.
Unfortunately, the CW has only released two episode stills for The Vampire Diaries 5 05, "Monster's Ball." In the first episode photograph still below we see Elena dressed up as Anne Boleyn for the Whitmore Historical Ball. Judging by the expression on her, it appears that whatever her and Damon, who is also in costume, are discussing. We can see the two are at the ball because everyone around them is also in costume. The second episode still shows us the other side of the conversation. We see an attentive Damon dressed as King Henry VII talking to Elena.
