SMART FX KNOBS PUT AWARD-WINNING LINE 6 EFFECTS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS.

EVERY EFFECT IS FULLY ADJUSTABLE UP TO 7 PARAMETERS DEEP, INCLUDING ROUTING PRE- AND POST-AMPLIFIER.

Deep dive into your effects like never before! Every effect is fully adjustable up to 7 parameters deep, including routing pre- and post-amplifier. Sculpt your delays, mods, reverbs, pitch effects, and more with unparalleled control.

Line 6's first intelligent pitch shifter, Smart Harmony is fast-tracking and easy to use. Harmonize using major, minor, pentatonic, whole tone, and other types of scales. (Don't worry, you don't need to know music theory to use Smart Harmony). And then there's Pitch Glide, which is most effective when used with an FBV MkII foot controller. Use the foot pedal to smoothly shift your tone up or down to any interval within a four-octave range. Calibrate the effect to semitones, or to 10-cent increments to create cool chorus/detuning effects.

The Spider IV 120 also features Quick Loop, a 14-second sound-on-sound looper that's ideal for writing songs, practicing solos, jamming, and even dialing in your tone! Easy to use, Quick Loops controls are all on the front panel. Connect an FBV MkII foot controller for hands-free control of the looper functions.

Get simultaneous FX. Use up to 8 effects at the same time! Pour on the colors and textures with all 4 Smart FX, set the Boost and the Noise Gate, activate Quick Loop, and connect an FBV MkII foot controller to kick on the volume/wah pedal. How many other amplifiers can deliver that?

DIALED-IN ROCK STAR TONES AND PRESETS Who do you want to sound like today? Discover the tones of your heroes in Spider IV amplifiers. 50 famous guitarists and bands, including Coheed & Cambria, Johnny Marr, Slipknot, and others, hand-crafted more than 300 of their signature tones, and turned them into Spider IV presets--from sparkling cleans to effect-laden tones to saturated high-gain heaven.

Plus, get one-touch access to almost 200 tones based on the best guitar songs of all time. From the switchblade-swinging slapback of the 1950s to the high-gain distortion of the 2000s, get the tones from Master of Puppets, Back in Black, Whole Lotta Love, Daytripper, Toxicity, Purple Haze, Head Like a Hole, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Crazy Train, and more.

You'll always sound your best with the built-in chromatic tuner. No need for an external tuner or additional guitar cables, this invaluable tool is integrated into the amps front panel. Simply activate the tuner with the push of a button.

Manual mode draws a more traditional amplifier experience out of Spider IV. When Manual mode is activated, all front-panel knobs work independently of one another. (Out of Manual mode, choosing an amp model may adjust the settings of the other front-panel knobs.)

To get the whole story of Spider IV amplifiers, you need to turn one around. All Spider IV combo amps feature a perfectly tuned three-quarter closed-back cabinet. This provides a tight, punchy, focused response that you can't get from an open-back cabinet. And a large, two-line LCD is your window into Spider IV. This is where you can deep dive into effects and adjust their parameters, scroll over 500 presets, see the tuner interface, name your user-created presets, get a visual representation of where your Smart FX knobs are set, and more.

So Many Sounds And Pure Clean Earth Shaking Power

I had an old Line6 Flextone. This amp had plenty of power but I was never able to get the sound I was looking for out of it (no fault of the amp). I love Line6 products and now own three after purchasing the Spider IV. This amp has so many presets that you can just push a button and find that perfect sound you were looking for. You can custom dial in your own sound or take one of the presets and tweak it a little if you want. The clarity and drive this amp produces is breathtaking. So loud yet so clean and clear, and down right nasty sounding when you want it to be.The ease of use and the amazing sound this head produces makes it an incredible value. Check one out - you will love it.

Powerful but..

First off, I love line 6 products.I bought this little beauty for my birthday a few years ago along the 4x12 matching cab.First thing I did was go to a friends soundproofed room and got it up to about 6 and nearly deafened myself.. Wow has this thing go punch! After that ear splitting and very enjoyable experiance, I got to work trying to create some sounds and such. For the basics, like gain, amp type, bass, treble and so forth, it's dead easy. The problem comes down to when you start getting into the inner workings of all those effects 250+ it can get hairy and the tiny little screen is totally useless. To do any serious stuff you will need to hook up to a computer and get into the downloadable programs from line 6 ... Hope you purchased a pedal board or you won't be able to connect to a computer!Other than that I love the thing. It's got balls and tone and then some and more options than you can imagine.I got on to one of line 6 's forums once and spoke to someone from line 6 (about 2006) I asked if they had any plans to make a control app for IOS as I had just bought my first ipad.... The response was they didn't think the ipad was going to take off... Lol wow.. Really? Yes.. Hmmm.. Possibly some vision issues there...Anyway I thought it would be great to have the effects editor connect thru to the ipad which could sit right on top of the unit, and that would make control sooo much easier... But I was shot down and poopoo'd.. I'm sorry I still think its a great idea..If you are going to buy one, you will find a great and reliable machine with awesome sounds. But you may want to think twice about getting the bigger pedal board to have more choices for you're presets.Happy playing

Not for Everybody (3.5 stars)

Don't get too fooled by the overdone pre-sets. It was fun blipping through the upteen gazillion settings when I first came across this amp, but I was over it by the end of day one. Make sure to order the FBV2 floor switch, because you'll want to sculpt your own tones and set them in Channels 1-4. It's not a solid state amp - it's a digital modeling amp - and if you're not careful it can be the worst fizz offender on the planet. Take some time to create your own tones and it settles into a very nice riff machine. I have a Modded Ampeg Reverberocket 212 Tube amp, a solid state Acoustic Amplification Head, and this digital amp can get pretty close to matching the tubes as well as the bite of the solid state. Close.I have to admit I was surprised by the distortion. You can definitely pull metal tones galore out of it. The 4 x 12 matching cab has Custom Celestions - which is Line 6's way of saying that they put in some flat response 12s to help the digital motherboard achieve good distortion. I'm not sure how they would match with other heads, but digital heads of any type should be able to make them churn.I've heard people moan about the cleans, but let me tell you - I have a Martin DCPA4 that this amp loves. Like I said before... sculpt your own tones and leave the presets alone.I've played and recorded a few different guitars through this amp - Gibson Les Paul Studio deluxe sounds amazing. ESP Viper 301 can get super Sabbathy... Schecter C-1 Hellraiser with EMG 81-85s is a metal monster... Dean MXL gets all the dives and squeals you need - with tons of sustain and feedback. Fender Strat can be a metal blues monster for sure!I keep it on hand in the studio because it mikes solid - and transfers to recordable formats really nicely. Funny how cheap gear rolls. That being said, I would never take this to a club or live show. At show levels, the digital sound becomes way too obvious, and that is where this amp and the majority of digital fails. Tone snobs are not entirely off base about this product.Built in fx are on hand. The short delays are really cool when I hit them with an MXR Carbon Copy lined into an Alesis Nanoverb... fetching for days!!! The trem is pretty cool - but the phaser, chorus and flange - I can live w/o. Good Room Verb.Great studio/practice room amp - not to be taken on the road.Use the built in noise gate. The tuner holds spot on with my trusty Sabine Chromatic... read the booklet. If you hate it, give it away. No one is making you keep it.I deduct stars for being way too distracting with silly presets - and for being a budgety eyesore. PUT DUCT TAPE OVER THE PRE-SET DISPLAY AND USE THE SHORTBOARD!See all 9 customer reviews...
