Just in case you have been very excited about the idea of seeing Jensen Ackles's "" character of Dean turn into a four-legged friend, you are going to get the chance to see something close to that in the new episode "Dog Dean Afternoon" airing on The CW next week. We can only imagine what being a fly on the wall would have been like while watching Jensen try to stick his head out the window or go after the mailman.
There is a method to the madness here, though, and it is not just the result of Dean drinking some sort of magic potion that allows him to suddenly develop dog-like abilities for no reason. As a part of a new mission, Dean really needs to get inside a dog's head in order to save themand in order to save a dog, you apparently have to be a dog. In the end, we cannot even really say just how excited we are to see the rest of this play out. Just based on the concept alone, this may be our favorite one-off since "LARP and the Real Girl."
For those of you wondering where in the world some of the stories more important to the rest of the season are, they will be back soon. Misha Collins has an important one coming up, but for the time being we're both ready and willing to embrace a little bit of the fun. This episode looks to be just that, and one that we'd want to watch someday in syndication when we're sick and with a bowl of soup in front of the TV. Plus, Dean-centered episodes in general are mostly a blast.
Take a look at the episode's synopsis below:
"WHILE INVESTIGATING TWO BIZARRE MURDERS, SAM (JARED PADALECKI) AND DEAN (JENSEN ACKLES) REALIZE THERE IS AN EYEWITNESS TO BOTH GRUESOME DEATHS -- A GERMAN SHEPPARD. ANXIOUS TO FIND OUT IF THEY ARE DEALING WITH A WITCH, A SKINWALKER OR OTHER SUPERNATURAL MONSTER, THE GUYS LOOK UP A SPELL THAT COULD LET DEAN "COMMUNICATE" WITH THE DOG. UNFORTUNATELY, THE SPELL COMES WITH SIDE EFFECTS THAT NO ONE SAW COMING."
