New Day Of The Dead Reboot To Be Directed By The House at the End of the Street's Mark Tonderai

1980s horror movies - excuse the pun - just won't stay dead. A new reboot of GEORGE ROMERO'S Day of the Dead is on its way to the big screen, and reports it'll be directed by someone who's no stranger to the genre, The House at the End of the Street director MARK TONDERAI.



Based on Romero's third film in his Night of the Living Dead series, it'll roughly follow the plot of the original, wherein zombies have overtaken the earth and wiped out most of its human population, and "a group of scientists and survivors attempt to find a cure, and instead open Pandora's box."




I'm not sure why they're starting with the third film, or why a different group of filmmakers did the same thing in 2008 (with, reportedly, not so great results), is the third film better than the rest? I assume they find the origin story not quite as fun as dropping the viewers right into an earth that's already overrun by monsters. A summer 2014 production is planned.
