[TV] EPIX To Premiere KNB Documentary, "Nightmare Factory"!

Premium network EPIX gets special with the effects when it presents "All Hallows' Evil" Halloween marathon, October 30-31. The evening features 9 demonic-plagued films, including the World Premiere of the EPIX Original Documentary "NIGHTMARE FACTORY" at 8pm on October 30.



"Nightmare Factory", is a 90-minute documentary about the acclaimed Oscar-winning Hollywood special effects house KNB, responsible for creating "The Walking Dead" zombies and the makeup effects for close to 1000 feature films!!




"Nightmare Factory", directed by Donna Davies (Zombiemania), is the story of how one Pittsburgh boy's fascination with monsters drove him to the very top of the Hollywood food chain. In 1989, Greg Nicotero, much to his parents' chagrin, quit medical school and headed for Hollywood to pursue a dream of making monsters. Together with gore masters Howard Berger and Robert Kurtzman, Nicotero went on to create KNB EFX Group, one of the most prolific makeup effects studios in the world. After twenty years as the "go to guy" for the world's most successful horror/sci-fi films, Greg Nicotero is the first one directors like Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez call.



Those appearing in "Nightmare Factory" include George A. Romero, John Carpenter, John Landis, Tom Savini, Frank Darabont, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and "The Walking Dead's" Norman Reedus and Laurie Holden.In addition to "Nightmare Factory", the evening of horror and ghoulish makeup effects include the films Evil Dead II (featuring effects from KNB); Paranormal Activity 3, Pumpkinhead, Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings, The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia, The Bay, The Devil Inside and Cheerleader Massacre. 8:00 p.m. "Nightmare Factory" (EPIX Original Documentary) - "Nightmare Factory" focuses on special effects house KNB and looks at the amazing advances in special effects makeup over the past several decades. Interviews with industry's top directors are inter-cut with footage from some of the most spectacular horror and sci-fi films ever made.

9:45 p.m. Evil Dead II - The sequel, directed by Sam Raimi, with effects by KNB, brings back Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), the sole survivor from an onslaught of flesh-eating demonic spirits. This time, he's holed up in a cabin with a new group - and those evil spirits are hungry.

11:15 p.m. Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings - An interesting and strange cast are featured in this sequel: "Punky Brewster's" Soleil Moon Frye, Monkee Mickey Dolenz' daughter Ami, Dirty Harry's Andrew Robinson, "CSI's" Hill Harper, Friday the 13th's Jason, Kane Hodder, Bill Clinton's brother Roger and "Mission Impossible's" Peter Lupus. The cast alone is enough to terrify you. In Blood Wings, thrill seeking teens resurrect pumpkinhead from his grave unleashing a revenge rampage.

12:45 a.m. Pumpkinhead - This was FX master Stan Winston's first feature film. After his little boy is accidentally killed by a motorcyclist, his father (Lance Henriksen) seeks a witch who conjures up a demonic pumpkin-like entity, who begins carving up each group member responsible for the death.

5:15 a.m. Cheerleader Massacre - What happens when five high school cheerleaders, their coach and a few horny guys go to a cabin in the woods? When there's a psychotic maniac waiting for them, what do you think happens? Starring Nikki Fritz, Brinke Stevens and directed by Jim Wynorski.



THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2013



8:00 p.m. The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia - After a young family moves into an historic home in Georgia, they soon discover that they're not the only inhabitants. Seriously, don't go in the basement. Starring Abigail Spencer and Chad Michael Murray.

9:45 p.m. The Bay - In a small Maryland town, something has infected the water, but no one knows what it is or how it's transmitted. People start turning up dead and others are doing strange things so our advice - don't drink the water. Directed by Barry (Rain Man) Levinson.

11:15 p.m. Paranormal Activity 3 - Catfish directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman continue the ghostly hauntings as a strange entity shows up at a house and is befriended by two sisters.

12:40 a.m. The Devil Inside - See what happens when a young woman (Fernanda Andrade) gets involved in unauthorized exorcisms. You've been warned.
