Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou review

PLOT

Akari is a young girl who lives with her friend as her parents are dead, or at least we know her mother is for sure. She learns the way of the Triton cards from friends of her mother because her mother was well versed in Triton cards. In an effort to not reveal too many spoilers, she moves to a special fortune telling school where she must fight monsters who take over people in despair. Akari begins to learn about her self, while trying to help her friends from falling into the same fate as others.

CHARACTERS

Akari is the only one i'll like to mention, as she seems to be in most of series an emotional wreck but yet is able to prevail over them, unlike some shinji that I may know of (NGE). her mother is dead and her father is unknown, but is revealed slowly over the course of the anime.

VERDICT

This was a strange anime, as coming up to it, I personally thought it'll be rotten to its core, and i should drop it. But I was wrong, that first episode was like getting hit by Tyson left hook, or his mouth which ever u perfer, and it kept on going very well for about 4-5 episodes. And there it mellowed out, but suddenly it went right back at it with a killing spree and shit hit the fan basically. it is sad the ending was lacking as it went for the cliche with everything turning out alright which would be the total opposite of where this anime was heading i thought.

  1. I think the first episodes were actually good, but it just went downhill by episode 4 with that painting chick. It started to lose focus on the overall plot. But it does pick up somewhere in episode 7 or 8. But you're right, the ending was not as I expected as well. I thought it would be a complete massacre when *SPOILER ALERT* it was revealed that you'll die if you kill your card counterpart. The ending was a disappointment.

I recently reviewed this anime too, you could find it here.
