Among my favorite childhood toys were the . These 3 3/4space adventurers might've seemed at home in the STAR WARS galaxy, but predated that film by three years in their native Japan (where they were known as MICROMAN). They were brought to the U.S. in 1976 by the late and so-very-lamented Mego Corporation.
While most of the characters originated in Japan, Mego created some original aliens in 1979. One of these was Antron, the four-armed, glow-in-the-dark-brained insect. Inexplicably, back in the day the aliens didn't appeal to me as much as did the human and robot characters, so I didn't own an Antron until I picked up one from a vintage toy shop in 2006.
