MUST DO: GLEE this week will be a sad one, as they memorialize Finn. (Actor Cory Monteith passed away this past summer.) My eyeballs do not feel dry.
NEWS: Prolific author TOM CLANCY passed away on Tuesday at the age of 66. He is known for writing war novels and was often accused of leaking classified information. (This amused him because he was not privy to any classified information, but just happened to get some guesses right.) Many of his books were adapted into films, such as the upcoming JACK RYAN. Check out the trailer. It looks very good, actually.
- Glee actress and singer NAYA RIVERA and rapper BIG SEAN have recently become engaged! CHECK OUT THE GIGANTIC RING.

- DAVID LETTERMAN has signed a contract to stay on with THE LATE SHOW through 2015.
- AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. is heating it up with the cameos! SAMUEL L. JACKSON appeared in the second episode as his character, Nick Fury. Cobie Smulders appeared in the first episode as her character, Maria Hill.
- Check out the fantastic opener for THE SIMPSONS Treehouse of Horror XXIV designed by GUILLERMO DEL TORO.
- RENEWED: Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown, Rachael Ray, The Blacklist, The Simpsons (making it the longest running scripted TV show of all time), Sleepy Hollow, Wilfred (will be its final season)
- CANCELLED: Camp, Lucky 7 (obvious joke: Unlucky 7! This is the first cancellation of the new Fall series)
MOVIES: The hotly anticipated GRAVITY is out! I saw it. It is both shrink back in your seat horrifying and then edge of your seat exciting. It's a simple yet suspenseful film about survival. Also the hotly unanticipated RUNNER RUNNER. In the indie world, two hotly anticipated (to me) films are out:
- Comedy A.C.O.D. (Adult Children of Divorce) starring Adam Scott
- Drama PARKLAND takes place at the assassination of President JFK, but centers around the "normal" civilians such as Zac Efron as a young doctor and Paul Giamatti as just a man with a camera.
- Tickets for CATCHING FIRE are on sale already!
- Casting news! Samuel L. Jackson let it slip that ELIZABETH OLSEN (yes, little sister of Mary Kate & Ashley) will be in AVENGERS 2. She will be playing a new addition to the Avengers team, Scarlet Witch.
- DVD: This is the End and The Croods are both out on DVD now. Then for all you collectors, The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversay special is out, though I think watching it in a 3D theater is more exciting. The Little Mermaid also comes to Blu-ray for the first time.
- New posters for THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG! .
Additionally, a new trailer is out. Take it from someone who definitely fell asleep a couple of times during the first Hobbit movie... This trailer looks awesome. Like Fellowship of the Ring, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was mostly set-up for the trilogy. It looks like shit's going down in this movie. Plus, Legolas is back!
- Here is a new extended look at THOR 2, which we'll see increasingly more of as we approach its November 8th release. You can gaze upon .
- This is the new trailer for I, FRANKENSTEIN, which is a action-adventure movie starring Aaron Eckhart as Frankenstein's monster. I have mixed feelings about it... I probably won't see it. Ehh just watch this trailer, we don't have to make up our minds until January.
MUSIC: MILEY CYRUS's new album BANGERZ is out on Tuesday, October 8th. You caneven before the album comes out.
