New eBook Fills Out The Time Of The Doctor With Four Tales Of Trenzalore

Last year saw a whole string of short Doctor Who eBooks published, then compiled, one for each Doctor. This year, there's a change from that macro approach to something more micro and a compilation of new stories that squeeze inbetween the scenes of the recent Christmas special, The Time of the Doctor.

Here's the official blurb:

As it had been foretold, the armies of the Universe gathered at Trenzalore. Only one thing stood between the planet and destruction - the Doctor. For nine hundred years, he defended the planet, and the tiny town of Christmas, against the forces that would destroy it.

He never knew how long he could keep the peace. He never knew what creatures would emerge from the snowy night to threaten him next. He knew only that at the end he would die on Trenzalore.

Some of what happened during those terrible years is well documented. But most of it remains shrouded in mystery and darkness.

Until now.

This is a glimpse of just some of the terrors the people faced, the monstrous threats the Doctor defeated. These are the tales of the monsters who found themselves afraid - and of the one man who was not."

Each of the four stories features a classic monster: the Ice Warriors in Justin Richards' Let It Snow; the Krynoids in George Mann's An Apple a Day; the Autons in Paul Finch's Strangers in the Outland; and the Mara in Mark Morris' The Dreaming.

Obviously we know how each of these stories will end, at least in the broadest sense, but I suppose we always do. It's not like they're ever going to kill The Doctor or even spring a surprise regeneration on us.

Without MATT SMITH to surprise me with his performance I might well skip this. Do let me know if I'm missing out on anything special.
