Awards season chugged along on Thursday, with the Producers Guild Awards announcing its ten nominations for 2013 films. When it comes to the myriad awards of this time of the year, the Producers Guild Awards have long been one of the key indicators when it comes to the Oscar for Best Pictures, with the winner of the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures also scoring a Best Picture win for the past six years.
With that fact in mind, the exclusion of films like Inside Llewyn Davis and Lee Daniels' The Butler by the Producers Guild Awards doesn't bode well for their Oscar chances. Both Inside Llewyn Davis and The Butler have already garnered a handful of nominations and honors at the season's earlier awards.
The Producers Guild Awards winners will be announced on Jan. 19, three days after Oscar nominations are revealed.
